Additional Information	As stated in our statutes, the primary aim is to combat forced prostitution, the sexual exploitation of children and trafficking in women and children. A further focus of KARO e.V.’s work is to establish and support projects offering support and psychological, medical and social counselling to women, teenagers and children who are/have been exposed to violence or the threat of violence. We also campaign against racist, religious and gender-based discrimination, and fight to assert human and children’s rights as well as striving to strengthen the rights of victims of mental, physical and sexual violence. In addition to counselling, support and accompaniment services, and further to the help we offer persons affected by forced prostitution and trafficking in human beings, we also offer assistance to prostitutes from all countries who work in the street prostitution sector, and in brothels or similar types of establishment near the German-Czech border. Our main goal is to help victims to exit prostitution and reintegrate or resettle in safe social structures in their home country. One of our main challenges is to guarantee the availability of and manage the safe house for women and children that we opened in 2008, and which includes a baby hatch; and to ensure 24/7 accessibility to our distress and counselling service for women, teenagers and children who are/have been exposed to violence or the threat of violence. We also cooperate and network with authorities, institutions and other state or non-state organisations at national and international level. Through our work, we aim in particular to combat social grievances in the organisation’s field of work, and take appropriate action to protect abused women, teenagers and children and to empower them to lead an independent life from both a personal and economical perspective. In addition to these goals and tasks, we raise awareness among the general public about the issues at stake in our field of work through PR and lobbying, and we support scientific research in the field of social work by passing on practical information and providing access to our everyday work. Intensive networking is at the heart of KARO e.V.’s work. The organisation is currently cooperating with the following NGOs: ECPAT Deutschland e.V. (working group for the protection of children against sexual exploitation), KOK (German nationwide activist coordination group combating trafficking in women and violence against women in the process of migration), Europäische Bewegung Deutschland e.V. (European movement Germany), associate member of AWO Kreisverband Chemnitz und Umgebung e.V. (AWO district association for Chemnitz and surrounding area), member of the Netzwerk gegen sexuelle Gewalt Hochfranken – Vogtlandkreis – Thüringen (Network against sexual violence in Upper Franconia, in the Vogt district and in Thuringia)
