In 2017, the Dutch organization FairWork launched a pilot project on the use of online tools to prevent labor exploitation and trafficking. The project was supported by the Dutch Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment. Migrant workers were able to be informed about their rights, as well as their possibilities of support in the Netherlands through the professional use of various online tools (for example Facebook, Youtube, Google Adwords, etc.). The project was continuously analyzed, adapted, tested and improved. It has been noted that the use of online tools to combat and prevent trafficking and labor exploitation is making an important contribution. A large group of migrant workers were reached and they could be informed about their rights. An expert meeting was scheduled for December 2018.
The handbook for the project explains step-by-step how to use online tools as a NGO / Counseling Center, in order to provide information on rights and support to their target groups.
