Report of the UN Special Rapporteur on trafficking in persons for submission to the Human Rights Council

The final version of the Report of the Special Rapporteur on trafficking in persons, especially women and children, has been finalized. At the beginning of the year, inter alia, Global Alliance Against Traffic in Women (GAATW) and La Strada International (LSI), organizations in which KOK e.V. is a member, have submitted information on the challenges of identifying, (re-) transferring and protecting affected persons and potential victims of trafficking in human beings to the Special Rapporteur. The contributions helped during the development of the final report. In her report, the Special Rapporteur, Maria Grazia Giammarinaro, refers to trafficking in the context of migration and current migration policies. Among other things, she recommends that human rights aspects must always be at the center of states' responses to migration and refugee movements, that they provide secure and legal migration routes and that the principle of non-refoulement has to be respected.
