On November 22-23, 2021, the General Assembly held its high-level meeting to evaluate the Global Plan of Action to Combat Trafficking in Persons. The President presented a draft resolution on this matter. It was noted that the factors contributing to the emergence trafficking in human beings have been further exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic. This has resulted in less support for survivors of trafficking and weakened states' ability to identify and hold perpetrators accountable. For this reason, there needs to be more research, data, and analysis on the modus operandi, trajectory, target populations, and impact. A "victim- and survivor-centered approach" and a whole-of-society approach to combating trafficking in human beings must be prioritized. In addition, the fight should pay attention to how the interplay of various prejudices and injustices makes the individual more vulnerable. In particular, the risk for migrants as one of the most affected groups of people needs to be reduced.
