Remarks / Specifics | Undertakes political lobbying to advocate for women’s rights and peace at national and international level (part of national and international women’s and peace networks) Consultative status with the United Nations and various UN agencies. For example, it is thanks to intensive recommendations and lobbying from the IFFF/WILPF (in collaboration with other NGOs) that resolution 1325 on women, peace and security was adopted by the UN Offices in Geneva and New York, allowing representatives of other NGOs to take part in UN sessions by using the organisation’s accreditation |
Additional Information | In the course of its work with women across the world, the NGO aims to: Promote peace coexistance, freedom and justice (fighting for human rights and combating racism) Promote economic and political equality among all peoples and stop all forms of discrimination, including discrimination based on gender, origin and religion (UN Resolution 1325) Promote the equal participation of women in politics, the economy and society, and empower women at all political levels to advocate for peace (primarily in the civil sector) Work from multiple viewpoints and with people from various backgrounds to overcome the roots of violence and war, and promoting the role of civil society in conflict management Promote international disarmament, stopping the arms trade (nuclear weapons, small arms, arms exports) Strengthen UN and international law Promote women’s rights as a fundamental element of human rights, and implementing the Beijing Platform for Action, especially with regard to its peace demands (trafficking in women, UN Resolution 1820) Promote sustainable development and equal access to resources (Women Water War) Support our divisions situated in conflict areas (e.g. the Middle East) |
