EU Commission publishes plan to combat trafficking in human beings and protect refugees from Ukraine

European Commission THB

The EU Commission has published a plan to combat trafficking in human beings and protect people from Ukraine. It sets forward five goals: raising awareness regarding risks of trafficking and setting up dedicated helplines, strengthening the prevention of trafficking in human beings, enhancing law enforcement and judicial response to trafficking, identifying and assisting trafficked persons at an early stage, and addressing the risks of trafficking in non-EU countries, in particular Ukraine and Moldova.

As a next step, the plan will be implemented by the EU Anti-Trafficking Coordinator in cooperation with the national rapporteurs and equivalent mechanisms of EU countries and EU agencies. It is based on the EU Anti-Trafficking Strategy (2021-2025) and is an envisaged objective under the 10-point action plan.
