ICAT Statement on the World Day against Trafficking in Persons

Cover ICAT Statement

The Inter-Agency Coordination Group against Trafficking in Persons (ICAT) has published a statement on the World Day against Trafficking in Persons, highlighting that a growing number of persons trafficked and at risk of trafficking have no access to assistance, justice and judicial redress, as anti-trafficking measures have fallen far behind the global increase. ICAT calls on governments and other stakeholders to take immediate action that reduces hazards from trafficking, ensures effective prosecution of perpetrators, and improves access to protection and assistance for trafficked persons. Measures should be human rights-based, diversity-sensitive, and developed with meaningful inclusion of the voices of trafficked persons to ensure that no victim of trafficking is left behind.
