On 8 May, the CEDAW Alliance Germany submitted its oral statement on the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women in Germany to the UN CEDAW Committee.
The statement contains points which, from the perspective of civil society organisations, are missing for the full implementation of the UN Women's Rights Convention in Germany. It lists a lack of intersectionality and understanding of multiple discrimination in gender equality policy as well as a comprehensive strategy for the implementation of the Convention, which should achieve equality for all genders.
In the area of combating trafficking in human beings and violence against women, there is also a lack of interdepartmental strategies and comprehensive support structures for those affected.
