Annual Report GRETA 2022

Cover GRETA Annual Report 2022

The Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA) published its annual report for the year 2022 on 14 June 2023. During the reporting period, GRETA conducted monitoring visits to thirteen countries and adopted ten country reports (Armenia, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Ireland, Luxembourg, Northern Macedonia, Norway and Portugal). According to the expert group, persons fleeing the war in Ukraine are at particular risk of exploitation and trafficking. The report includes a chapter on dealing with trafficking risks related to the war in Ukraine and practical measures that can be taken to minimize them. The annual report highlights that there are particular challenges related to the increasing use of information and communication technologies. Some of the problems in implementing GRETA recommendations, the report says, are due to a lack of political will, resources, or training.
